Korten, Mavrud & Rubin 2022

Korten Winery is a boutique operation in Bulgaria’s Thracian Valley, founded by winemakers Kapka and Rosen Georgiev with training in Bulgaria, France and Australia. They focus on harmony between land and grape, employing natural processes to craft authentic wines that reflect regional character and indigenous varieties. Their ethos is micro-winery agility, terroir expression and elevated Bulgarian wine. Deep ruby in colour with intense aromas of black cherries, ripe plums and forest berries, framed by hints of herbs and dark chocolate. On the palate the 60% Mavrud and 40% Rubin blend offers a medium-to-full body with ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a subtle vanilla oak finish (aged ~9 months in 80 % French + 20 % American oak). Ideal with game, mature cheeses or rich pork dishes.
